Tech. Sgt. Kara Frank, a clarinetist and member of the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, dones a different uniform and rehearses with other members of the Pipe Band in Warner Robins, Ga., March 14, 2011. Sergeant Frank and other band members will perform in Washington, D.C., in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Since 1993, the Pipe Band has been invited each year on St. Patrick's Day to perform for the President of the United States and the Ireland Prime Minister at the U.S. Capitol steps with traditional Scottish bagpipe music. The authentic uniforms worn by the Air Force Reserve Pipe Band were manufactured in Scotland and include the Air Force Reserve colors of ultramarine blue and golden yellow. These members comprise the 14-member Full Spectrum Jazz Ensemble which is a nationally-acclaimed musical group in the Reserve Band. The ensemble has performed with such noted artists as composer Rob McConnell, saxophonist and educator, Jerry Coker and tenor saxophonist Nick Smith. Band receives recognition before Winter Tour

Lt. Gen. Charles E. Stenner, Jr., commander of the Air Force Reserve Command, presented Maj Don Schofield, commander of the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, with a letter of appreciation from Gary J. Motsek, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Program Support, for the Full Spectrum Jazz Ensemble's performance Jan. 19. The ensemble performed at the 2010 Department of Defense Maintenance Symposium and Secretary of Defense Maintenance Awards in November 2010. The DOD events were the most memorable to date, and the members of Full Spectrum contributed to their success, Motsek said in a letter. Gen Stenner presented the letter during the band's rehearsal for their upcoming Winter Concert Tour.
